FAQ'S ABOUT REMOVAL

Why chose NewSkin Laser Tattoo Removal?

Because you want results! We are tattoo removal specialists. We use the best lasers in the industry and get the best results. Your safety and satisfaction is our highest priority.

How is the tattoo removed?

We use the gold standard, advanced q-Switched Nd:YAG laser to remove the tattoo. This laser is top of the line – it’s safe, effective, and FDA approved for tattoo removal. Basically, the laser breaks down the ink, and your body will naturally flush it away over the next few weeks following a treatment.

Is the process painful?

Many clients compare the pain associated with removal as being similar to the level of pain of getting the tattoo in the first place. The impact of the laser pulse is also comparable to the snap of a rubber band.  The good thing is that it takes significantly less time to remove a tattoo than it did to apply it!

How many treatments will it take to remove my tattoo?

Your skin and your tattoo are both unique. Most professionally applied tattoos take from 5 to 10 treatments to remove completely. Homemade tattoos usually take less (1 to 5 treatments).  If you just want your tattoo lightened for a cover-up, then it will take significantly less treatments (1 to 4 usually).    The number of treatments depends on the age of the tattoo, the density of the ink, the type and amount of ink used, color of the ink, the depth of the ink in the skin, the location of the tattoo, and your skin type.

How long do I have to wait in between treatments?

We space treatments 4-6 weeks apart. Your body needs time to heal properly and flush the ink out.

Can my tattoo be completely removed?

In most cases, yes. However, keep in mind that there are no FDA regulations on tattoo ink. So we can’t know all the additives in any given ink used in your tattoo. That is why it’s hard to promise 100% removal.

Do all ink colors respond the same?

No. Black and red are the easiest colors to remove. Some greens and blues are a little harder to remove and can take more treatments to remove them.

Will I have a scar?

There is very little chance of any scarring.  This is because the laser we use (Cynosure Affinity QS, q-Switched Nd:YAG)  doesn’t go deep enough into the skin to cause scarring and also because the pulse from the laser only affects the tattoo ink pigments, not the surrounding cells and tissue.. However, if you have a history of keloid scarring please discuss this before you begin treatment.

What side effects will I experience?

These are similar to when the tattoo was applied. Most patients will experience some swelling, redness, and minor blistering of the skin after a treatment. These effects are temporary and your skin will heal completely. We will provide complete aftercare instructions after your treatment.
